Sex after giving birth can be an uncomfortable topic to bring up with your OB/GYN. Our resident Certified Lactation Counselor, Molly Petersen, gives you 5 tips for navigating sex after baby.
Sex After Baby: 5 Tips
- Consult your doctor first about the right time.
- After your doctor gives you the ok, create your own timeline with your partner.
- Have an open, honest conversation with your partner about sex and your physical and emotional needs.
- If soreness in your breasts is what's stopping you from being intimate with your partner, a light self-breast massage can get the blood flowing and reduce soreness.
- Communicate with your partner about any pain you may be experiencing.
While childbirth is a unique experience for each and every woman, if anything feels off, make sure to talk to your health care provider immediately.
Meet Molly Petersen

“I love when I hear the confidence in a new mom’s voice when she realizes that her body is capable of giving her baby the very best.” Molly began her Lansinoh career assisting customers with product questions and was inspired to become a CLC when she realized that many questions were more about breastfeeding than products.
