The American Academy of Pediatrics (AAP) recommends creating a media plan.
According to the AAP, "for children younger than 18 months, avoid use of screen media other than video-chatting. Parents of children 18 to 24 months of age who want to introduce digital media should choose high-quality programming, and watch it with their children to help them understand what they're seeing." Screen time can be a controversial subject and everyone has an opinion. There is probably a family down the street who is completely unplugged and doesn’t have a TV in their home, while you’ll also hear anecdotes about kids who were raised in front of Sesame Street and went to Harvard Law School.
As with many other parenting subjects, the right answer is the one that works best for you and your family. How much TV your baby can watch is a decision that you need to make with your partner. Try to make the world a better place by not judging anyone who chooses differently than you!
